About True Function Massage Therapy

True Function Massage Therapy is a home-based massage therapy practice located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The clinic provides advanced therapeutic massage, one-on-one Pilates instruction, and radial shockwave treatments in a professional environment. We are located at 11531 128 St in West Central Edmonton, about 10 minutes from downtown. The clinic is in a small yellow house, located just north of the old Charles Camsell hospital in the Inglewood community. Parking is available on the street in front of the house.

I offer the highest quality of care to my clients. My services are designed to relieve the pain and stress related to day to day living, while aiding in the rehabilitation of physical injuries. I customize each treatment to meet your specific needs by incorporating a variety of assessment and treatment techniques that are best suited to you as an individual.

As part of your treatment, I will provide you with knowledge of self-administered pain management techniques such as stretching and strengthening exercises and the use of body rolling techniques, which will help you get the most out of each treatment.

I typically offer one-hour sessions. A massage is $115 for one hour and Pilates is $65 per session. Cash or cheque are the accepted methods of payment, as we do not currently have debit or credit card processing.

True Function Massage Therapy is dedicated to improving the general wellbeing of each client.

About the Therapist

I received my Massage Therapy Diploma from Grant MacEwan College in 2005. Since completing the 2200 hour program, I have been practicing in Edmonton, Alberta. I have done extensive specialization in Deep Tissue and Myofascial Massage. I received my Pilates instructor certification in 2018 and have incorporated these principles into my practice. I have worked with Chiropractors, massage therapists, and personal trainers over the years to develop a very specific approach to therapeutic massage.

In my personal experiences with injury and pain, I have used principles of healing that I now apply to my practice, which has evolved a strict therapeutic basis as a result. My treatments are tailored to each client and their specific condition(s). I strongly recommend seeking out other professional care when necessary. In some cases, I may recommend chiropractic treatment, Pilates, or physiotherapy to complement the massage therapy, looking at the body from a larger perspective. It is often necessary to retrain the body and strengthen it in order to reestablish correct posture and normal movement patterns.

My focus is on injury treatment and prevention by addressing postural and movement pattern deficiencies. Each individual's unique physical problems are treated depending on their needs. The underlying principle, however, is always the same: the goal is to realign the muscular and fascial systems in the body to promote functional movement. The work that I do is very deep and can be uncomfortable. This is the nature of dealing with injury. It is the responsibility of the client to inform me as to the depth of the massage that they would like so that I can accomodate their needs with corresponding pressure.

I believe that our bodies have a great capacity for recovery, but it takes work. I do not pretend that this is easy. My role is to help so that you can function at the highest possible level.
