Orthotics
East Quance Chiropractic Clinic works with The Orthotic Group for custom made orthotics.
Custom orthotics are used to align your foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They have the physical appearance of insoles, but they are biomechanical appliance that are made using a cast of your foot imprint in order to correct your specific foot imbalance. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as regular insoles and can be moved from shoe to shoe, as long as the shoes have a removable insole. The orthotics are used to reduce stress and strain your body experiences, much like how glasses work to reduce stress and strain on your eyes, by ensuring your feet are in proper alignment.

Custom Orthotics can Benefit Those Who Have
  • Localized foot pain
  • Bunions
  • Hammer toes
  • Arch or heel pain
  • Leg or knee pain
  • Hip or back pain
  • Shin splints
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Morton's Neuroma
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Runner's Knee
  • Sacroliliac Syndrome

Custom orthotics differ significantly from the orthotics you can purchase for about $30 from your local drug store. Drug store orthotics are generic and usually made for comfort whereas custom orthotics are made specifically for your foot to correct your individual issues. The quality and durability of custom made orthotics is also much higher so they will last much longer.
Custom orthotics also come with the assessment from your chiropractor who will address the specific issues you may be dealing with and they can explain the benefits that come from using custom orthotics. When you pick yourself out a pair from a drug store, you are left guessing which would have the most benefit to you.

Custom orthotics are covered by most health care providers. It is up to you to check with your health care provider to ensure that your individual plan includes custom orthotic coverage prior to having a pair made since every plan can differ. If your provider requires a physician's referral, your chiropractor is able to issue that for you.
